frequently asked questions
when do we get the finished painting?
after the wedding, typically in the 8-12 week range - can be longer though for peak season.
i want this to be a surprise for my partner, can we do this?
sure thing. i've painted many surprises they're the best.
i want a muted colour palette to match my house can you do this?
usually yes.
what is the travel fee?
depends where the wedding is. for long distance events that require a plane the travel fee includes the flight, checked baggage for my supplies, rental car so i can get to the wedding and hotel for sleeping.
is there a travel fee for our toronto wedding?
yes, but it is minimal ~100$ to cover the cost of the 407.
do you need anything from the venue?
no, just the space to set up approx 4x4'
we only want a ceremony kiss can you do this?
i can try. capturing a candid moment from the ceremony in the aisle with 2-4 other vendors is not easy, and the painting is only as good as my reference.
can you set up in our cocktail hour space then move your setup into the reception later?
i can, but its not efficient and will reduce the time i am painting. would not recommened.
do you ever paint morning ceremonies?
yup, they're on a tighter timeline but check my ig highlights for samples of those.
do you do a discount if we pay you cash?
nope, i'm legit and have to charge hst and remit taxes to the gov't sorry.
what time will you get to the venue?
depends on your timeline. generally if you are having a first look i'll be there 45 mins beforehand. if no first look, then 30 mins before ceremony start.
do you frame the artwork?
no. but if youre handy i can recommend some frame companies that are diy.
our wedding is outside, is there anything special we should consider?
i need a shaded space to paint, i am too pale to be standing in the sun for 6 hours. note that if you have a clear tent i need shade too.
what if it rains at our wedding?
if i'm set up outside i will need to move inside, or be tented. if you're worried about the painting - an overcast or darker sky can be quite moody and unique for a painting.
i heard oil paints smell, i dont want my guests to smell anything weird.
don't fret. that's only if you're putting your nose into the tube.
will guests be able to talk to you throughout the night?
they can come up and chat if they want, typically people just watch over my shoulder or from their tables.
do we need to provide you with a vendor meal?
a meal is always a delight, and appreciated otherwise i could get hangry.
how do we get the painting when it's done?
all paintings are picked up in kitchener ontario when they are done unless you are okay with a courier potentially kicking the painting to your front door or you are a long distance travel wedding (will be shipped rolled and tubed for safety)
can we change the size later?
you're welcome to make the size bigger, but not smaller.
what if you get sick and can't come to our wedding?
let's hope it doesnt, but i would offer either 1. full refund + ask around to my painter friends to see if anyone could replace me. 2. a painting from your wedding photos at a discounted cost.
i am insecure about xyz can you not make this prominent in the painting?
of course, we've all got something.
our venue needs everyone to have liability insurance.
ya no problem, got it. 2m$.
our venue wants you to have a floor covering under your paint stuff, is that okay?
i can bring a little carpet.
you'll be setup upstairs, and there's no elevator. is that okay?
likely fine but my cart is heavy and i might need someone to help me bring it up and down
what will you wear?
depends on the dress code or colour requirements. always appropriate and typically formal, tidy, try to look cute. I have a dupatta for morning ceremonies.
we dont want our wedding posted online.
no problem, the internet is a weird place, i get it.
will you stay all night at the reception?
generally, when the dance floor opens i am packing up. the exciting parts (the faces mostly) happen during dinner.
